While superstition about this topic is wide-spread and varied, the growing (modern) consensus is you can absolutely buy your own deck if you want to! It doesn't make it less magical, I promise!

I urge you to do research into the specific practices you want to participate in, learn where they come from, their cultural roots, and ask yourself WHY you feel drawn to it.
